How to upload app to macOS

1. Open Terminal

  • Press Cmd (⌘) + Space, type Terminal, and hit Enter.

2. Navigate to Your Build Output Directory

Your .app file is likely located in the publish folder within your project directory. Run:

 cd /path/to/your/project/bin/Release/net8.0-macos/publish

Replace /path/to/your/project with the actual location of your project.

3. Run the productbuild Command

Now, create a .pkg file:

productbuild --component YourApp.app /Applications YourApp.pkg

Replace YourApp.app with your actual .app file name.

4. Verify the Output

After running the command, you should see YourApp.pkg in the same directory.

Let me know if you run into issues! 🚀

No iOS signing iddentities match the specified provisioning profile "Name of profile"

To solve this issue, try the following steps:

  1. Check if the apple certificate (distribution/development) is still valid at developers.apple.com.
  2. if certificate has expired then create a new certificate.
  3. download the certificate and double click so that its added to xcode. Verify that certificate is present in xCode.
  4. Now import this certificate to apple keychain. Go to Keychain, click Login, click Certificates on the top bar, then select the certificate, right click it and export as a p12 file, pay attention to remembering the password.
  5. Move the p12 file to your Windows machine, go to Tools -> Options->Xamarin ->Apple Account in VS, and click View Details, click Import Certificate, import the p12 file and input the password. Then check if the profile is in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Xamarin\iOS\Provisioning\Profiles

UIWebView Deprecation and Xamarin.Forms

Apple started sending following warning messages about UIWebView deprecation.

ITMS-90809: Deprecated API Usage - App updates that use UIWebView will no longer be accepted as of December 2020. Instead, use WKWebView for improved security and reliability. Learn more (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uiwebview).

After you’ve corrected the issues, you can upload a new binary to App Store Connect

To fix this issue  you can simply go to your iOS project, open the project properties and add this flag in the additional mtouch arguments field: --optimize=experimental-xforms-product-type this flag works together with the Linker Behavior set to SDK Only or All.

In the screenshot below you can see the end result in Visual Studio for PC
.

UIWebView Deprecation Fixed

That’s it! Now create a new build, submit it to the App Store and all is good.
